CAITHNESS CROFT

In this landscape painting of a traditional Caithness croft house I have used a unique textural technique to create the stormy dramatic sky and moorland. In this artwork I have tried to convey the huge space of the the remote and quiet moorland and it huge expanse of skies, by making  the buildings of the farm and barns a small part of  the painting concentrating more on the moors and clouds. I have tried to portray the changeable weather and moody atmosphere of these remote and often ruined crofts in the far north Scottish Highlands.
