CAITHNESS HOOSIE

A modern contemporary Scottish landscape painting of a picturesque Caithness hoosie or house surrounded by the empty and bleak moorlands of Caithness the most northerly county of the mainland of Scotland. This painting is painted with dark moody atmospheric skies in cool dark blue with hints of red and gold underpainting below a textured cloudy sky.
With a small tin roofed cottage or bothy surrounded by textured ochre heather and bracken covered moor. In this artwork I have tried to convey the emptiness and vastness of this wild remote and little visited area of the northern highlands of Scotland, with it's huge flat moorlands of the flow country and its large skies and wild weather.
