SUTHERLAND HEATHER MOOR

An expressive and impressionistic view of a Sutherland heather moor and a rugged mountain  scene, with a dramatic cloudy misty and atmospheric grey blue sky. Painted in soft muted earth tones to convey the bracken covered moor and the purple flowering heather on the lower slopes of the  hills.
In this artwork I have tried to convey the feeling of the wild remote moorlands experienced by shooting grouse among the moorlands of the shooting estates of the Scottish highlands in late summer.
